Inter defender Francesco Acerbi has said that complacency is the reason for the Nerazzurri’s bad form away from home this season, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking during an interview with Sky Sport Italia ahead of the match against Atalanta, via FCInternews, the former Lazio defender discussed the fact that Inter do not have very good form away from home this season.

In the table based only on away games, Inter sit down in ninth place having won three and lost the other four away games.

It is a trend that the players are aiming to reverse in the match at the Gewiss Arena in Bergamo on Sunday and Francesco Acerbi thinks the problem is complacency when already leading.

“Maybe you think you are stronger, we always had the chances, we always seemed to have the matches in our hands, so we lacked the mental strength, the knife between the teeth and not thinking we have already won the match because we are stronger. And we must do that today, as we haven’t won a direct clash in a while.”

That form is the reason that Inter are not clearly in the Scudetto fight right now but there is certainly time to change that and the players are committed.

“We lost some points at the beginning, we’re having a good and bad championship, it’s Napoli who are extraordinary: now let’s try to find the right nastiness that was lacking, for example, against Juve”.
