Inter striker Edin Dzeko has said that the Nerazzurri played great after conceding to Atalanta and he is not surprised by the quality of his performances, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking after the match at the Gewiss Stadium to Sky Sport Italia, via FCInternews, Edin Dzeko analysed the 3-1 victory that Inter enjoyed over La Dea to climb above them and Juventus in the Serie A table.

He said that Inter started slowly but were able to wake up once Ademola Lookman had given Atalanta the lead with a penalty after 25 minutes.

“We started a bit as usual, slowly, then we woke up after conceding a goal. When it ends well, everything is fine; when you lose, nothing is fine.

“Today we were suffering at home against Atalanta, who are always dangerous. As I said: we woke up and played a great game.”

Edin Dzeko then scored twice to turn the game around and it continue his very healthy run of goals this season. He said that he is not surprised that he is playing like this, although hinted that some other people are surprised.

“Personally, I’ve been playing like this for more than 15 years: I’m not surprised, maybe others are.”

He was then asked about the task of catching Napoli at the top of the table to which he said: “The hope is to win the next one. As I always say: you have to look ahead and not behind.

“Congratulations to Napoli who are doing great things in the Champions League too, but the championship is still long. I really want to play here as I am doing now, I have a contract until June and then we’ll see.”
