Inter are exploring the opportunity to extend Danilo D’Ambrosio’s contract by one more year as it runs out at the end of the season, according to a report in the Italian media.

As has been reported by Calciomercato.com as reported via FCInter1908, there is more than one defender renewal going on at Inter at the moment.

The main one is of course Milan Skriniar and that is the priority for the management to work on as he is being chased by Paris Saint-Germain and other big teams may also enter the hunt.

A potentially more simplistic renewal is also on the cards though as the club would like to keep Danilo D’Ambrosio around for another season, extending his deal by one year to June 2024.

Danilo D’Ambrosio is a very reliable defender who is content with a bit-part role rather than expecting to start every single game.

That is why Simone Inzaghi presumably wants to keep him as a rotation option.
