Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei feels that the decision to leave Inter during the summer transfer window wasn’t easy, but that it was important for him to try a new experience.

Speaking to the press whilst with the Italy Under-21 team, as reported by FCInterNews, the 19-year-old gave his thoughts on his summer move to join the Premier League side after coming through the Nerazzurri’s youth ranks.

Casadei’s departure during the summer transfer window was quite a high profile move.

Chelsea had been targeting the young midfielder for some time, whilst Inter were reportedly quite reluctant to lose hold of a player who had been one of the outstanding products of their youth academy in recent years.

However, the Nerazzurri ultimately decided to agree a deal with Chelsea for financial reasons, whilst the player accepted the move where he could find a new challenge in an unfamiliar environment.

“It was an eventful summer,” Casadei reflected.

“But I had time to think about my choice before diving into my new adventure,” he continued.

“When the offer came in, I welcomed it with open arms, even if it wasn’t an easy decision and the period of acclimatization wasn’t as easy.”

“However,” Casadei explained, “I wanted to choose to go to England and get out of my comfort zone.”
