Genoa have agreed a deal in principle to sign Sporting Defensor defender Alan Matturro, ahead of Inter.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the Griffone have beaten Inter to the signing of the 19-year-old, and that the deal will not include the Nerazzurri.

Inter had been targeting Matturro as a player who could reinforce their backline for the long-term future.

The likes of Sevilla and Ajax had also been linked with the young Uruguayan’s signature in recent weeks.

However, it is Genoa who have managed to convince Sporting Defensor on a deal to sign the 19-year-old.

According to FCInterNews, the Ligurian club have reached an agreement in principle with the Uruguayans to sign Matturro for €3 million, plus 20% of all future resale on the defender.

The transfer is set to be done in the next few days.

Inter are not part of the transfer and have no stake in the future of Matturro as things stand.
