Inter Sporting Director Piero Ausilio will be using the World Cup in Qatar as an opportunity to closely scout Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram.

This according to Italian journalist Marco Barzaghi, who reported on his YouTube channel that with the 25-year-old in France’s squad for the tournament, Ausilio will be following him closely.

Thuram is widely reported to be a target for Inter, as the Frenchman had been linked with the Nerazzurri in the past and is now in the final year of his contract with Gladbach.

The Nerazzurri could capitalize on Thuram’s contract situation by signing him on a free transfer, or even try to sign the Frenchman for a fee during the January transfer window.

Ausilio is currently in Qatar where he will be attending the World Cup.

As Barzaghi explains, one of the Nerazzurri Sporting Director’s main objectives will be to evaluate Thuram’s performances as the club consider their strategy with respect to trying to sign him.

“Nkunku, an attacking midfielder from RB Leipzig, picked up an injury in training and will have to miss the whole World Cup,” he explained.

“Marcus Thuram has therefore been called up in extremis by France and will be one of the players most closely watched by Piero Ausilio, who will go to Qatar to watch the World Cup and re-establish relationships with various teams, executives, and agents,” he continued.
