Inter forward Joaquin Correa isn’t hiding his emotions at being left out of Argentina’s World Cup squad due to injury.

Posting on his Instagram account after it was confirmed that he would be missing out on the tournament, the 28-year-old described the feeling as a “sadness that cannot be explained in words,” and made clear that now his priority is recovering from the setback.

Correa had initially been included in Argentina’s 26-player squad for the upcoming World Cup.

However, a problem with the Nerazzurri forwards Achilles tendon has meant that he will be unable to play a role in world football’s showpiece occasion.

This is obviously a great disappointment for the 28-year-old, who may well be missing his final opportunity to play at the World Cup.

Correa expressed his thoughts in a message to fans on his Instagram account, where he also includes a note of hope, looking towards recovery and the future.

“Sometimes life throws up these obstacles,” he writes. “It’s a sadness that cannot be put into words.

“The important thing is to pick yourself up, and I’m focused on recovering and cheering on my teammates from afar now,” he continues.
