Inter have made initial contacts with the agent of wingback Matteo Darmian regarding a contract extension for the 32-year-old.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri would be ready to offer Darmian a one-year extension with the option of another season, and that Monza are interested in signing the wingback on a free transfer but that his priority is to stay at Inter.

Darmian’s current contract is set to run out at the end of June 2023.

However, given that the former Manchester United, Torino, and Parma wingback continues to play an important role in the team under Simone Inzaghi as he had done under Antonio Conte, the club would be happy to continue to have him as part of the project.

The Nerazzurri have made initial contacts with Darmian’s agent Tulio Tinti to set up contract negotiations.

According to FCInterNews, the club would be ready to offer the wingback a new deal worth around €1.5-1.8 million euros plus add-ons.

The Nerazzurri’s intention would be to extend Darmian’s contract by one season, with the option of an additional season.

Monza are keen on signing the 32-year-old next summer if he does not agree a new deal with Inter, but the player’s priority is reported to be staying on.
