Inter striker Romelu Lukaku is getting closer and closer to full fitness for the World Cup, although he will not be available for Belgium’s group stage opener against Canada.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the 29-year-old is targeting being fit for the Red Devils’ second group stage match against Morocco, or more realistic their third and final match against Croatia.

Lukaku has been training on his own in the Belgian national team’s training camp.

While a return to full training with the rest of the squad is still to come, the indications from the 29-year-old’s individual training have been positive and the expectation is that he will certainly be able to play during the group stage.

While there is still no doubt that next Wednesday’s group stage opener against Canada would be too son for Lukaku to return, he is already thinking about the possibility of playing against Morocco.

More conservatively, Lukaku is expected to be fit for Belgium’s final group stage match against Croatia.
