Inter wingback Denzel Dumfries has no doubt that if he is to face Nerazzurri teammates Lautaro Martinez and Joaquin Correa at the World Cup, they will not be underestimating the Netherlands.

Speaking to Dutch news outlet Algemeen Dagblad, via FCInterNews, the 26-year-old gave his thoughts on the possibility of coming face to face with his club teammates in a World Cup quarterfinal match.

Given how the World Cup draw has lined up, there is a decent possibility that the Netherlands and Argentina could face each other in the quarterfinals of the tournament.

The two teams are considered to be among the strongest at the tournament, and so a head-to-head confrontation between them would certainly be an important match.

Inter are represented in both teams, and so if they were to meet it would pit club teammates against one another, a situation which Dumfries has thought about already.

“Those two will be taking the Netherlands very seriously, I can assure you of that,” Dumfries said with a smile when the possibility of facing Martinez and Correa with Argentina was pointed out to him.

“We have a good squad,” he said of this Oranje team.

“I’ve talked with them about that, with the draw the way it is we could end up facing each other, that’s how it is sometimes with teammates,” Dumfries noted.
