Juventus midfielder Nicolo Fagioli’s brother has revealed that the 21-year-old had at one point had the opportunity to join Inter but ultimately chose the Bianconeri.

Speaking to Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport in an interview published in today’s print edition, via FCInterNews, the Fagioli’s brother Alessandro explained that the 21-year-old had at one point trialled with the Nerazzurri before deciding to join Juventus.

Fagioli has been something of a breakout player for Juventus this season, with the youngster having taken advantage of the opportunities afforded him by some midfield injuries at the Bianconeri to prove himself in Serie A.

The 21-year-old has scored a couple of high-profile goals for Juventus in recent weeks, including the third to round off a 2-0 win over Inter in the Derby d’Italia at the start of the month.

As Fagioli’s brother Alessandro explained, however, things could have been very different had the midfielder instead decided to join Inter, who had had an interest in signing him.

“Nicolo is someone who likes to stay close to home,” he explained.

“When he was in the Cremonese youth academy he said no to Manchester United because  he didn’t feel ready to leave Italy.”

“And then he also preferred Juve and declined interest from Inter, with whom he trialled, and also Milan and Atalanta – Nicolo’s love of the Bianconeri ultimately prevailed.”
