Legendary former Napoli midfielder Marek Hamsik feels that the Serie A title race still has a long way to go in it, although his former side the Partenopei have a major advantage after the early part of the season.

Speaking to Italian news outlet Napoli Magazine, as reported by FCInterNews, the Slovakian gave the view that there is still quite a bit of the season to be played even if Napoli have established a big advantage at the top of the table.

A number of teams are bunched together within a few points behind Napoli, with all of Inter, AC Milan, Juventus, and Lazio within just three points of one another.

However, Napoli are clear on their own at the top, with and eight-point gap on their closest challengers Milan.

The Partenopei’s advantage looks formidable, but at the same time it could only take a matter of a few results for any of the teams behind them to catch up.

“There’s still a long way to go in the Serie A title race,” Hamsik said, “but for now Napoli have built up a significant advantage for themselves.”
