Inter have an agreement with the Belgian national team that no risks will be taken with the fitness of currently injured striker Romelu Lukaku.

This according to Italian news outlet Calciomercato.com, who report that the Nerazzurri have spoken about the 29-year-old’s situation with the Red Devils’ medical staff and are hoping that he can play his way into fitness and form during the tournament without risking worsening his condition.

Lukaku is aiming to be fit for Belgium’s third and final group stage match against Croatia.

The striker is hoping that he can be fully recovered by that point, and then as the tournament and any knockout matches that his team reach progress, get more match-fit and start to build momentum.

Inter have received reassurances that Lukaku will not be rushed back if there is a chance of reinjury, while they are optimistic that he can use the World Cup to get back to his absolute best when he returns for his club on the other side of the tournament.
