Lecce midfielder Morten Hjulmand feels that current Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic is the biggest inspiration for his game.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, the 23-year-old spoke about the Nerazzurri midfielder as having the qualities that he seeks to emulate.

Over the past few years at Inter, Brozovic has really come into his own as a classical regista.

The Croat has become adept at playing at the base of midfield, with his consistency of technique and passing range allowing the team to play at their own tempo and consolidate possession.

Hjulmand is a player who plays in a similar role, and he impressed for Lecce as the Apulian team got promoted to Serie A last season and has been continuing on in that form this season in the top flight.

For the young Dane, however, Brozovic is still the player he wants to model his game around.

Asked who his role model is, Hjulmand replied “Brozovic at Inter.”

“The way he plays with the ball at his feet is always a pleasure to watch, and he’s always close to his defenders as an option.”
