Former Inter striker Nicola Ventola believes the team have suffered from losing wing-back Ivan Perisic to Tottenham Hotspur last summer.

The Croatia international reunited with former Nerazzurri coach Antonio Conte at the Premier League club after his contract with Inter expired, and Inter were unable to reach an agreement to extend it.

Speaking on Christian Vieri’s Twitch stream, Bobo TV, and as reported by FCInterNews.it, Ventola argued that Perisic had not been adequately replaced and his departure had hampered the Nerazzurri in their efforts to win a Scudetto for the first time since 2021.

The former Atalanta and Torino striker also spoke of his disappointment at seeing Juventus recovering from a slow start to the season, whilst criticised Inter for their dealings in the transfer market over the summer.

“The biggest disappointment, as I see it, is Juventus,” Ventola declared.

“Inter have lost important players like Perisic and haven’t strengthened much except by signing Lukaku and Mkhitaryan, whilst Juventus have brought in Kostic, Di Maria, and Paredes.”

Ventola argued that whilst the Bianconeri had improved, Inter had weakened and felt that they had failed to act sufficiently in the summer transfer window.

“Inter have weakened, Juventus have strengthened, and so they have fallen behind,” he added.

Ventola joined Inter from Bologna in 2000 but failed to establish himself with the Nerazzurri, spending three seasons on at Atalanta, Siena, and Crystal Palace before joining the former on a permanent transfer in 2005.
