Inter are convinced by defender Francesco Acerbi and will seek to turn his loan deal from Lazio into a permanent move, although it will assistance from the Biancoceleste.

According to QS, and as reported by FCInterNews.it, Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi has not been persuaded by centre-back Stefan De Vrij, and his mixed displays, coupled with a high wage, mean he is unlikely to see his contract extended when it expires next summer.

Inzaghi would prefer to continue with his former Lazio defender Acerbi and his loan move can be converted into a permanent transfer at a cost of €4 million.

However, whilst Inter intend to trigger their option in the loan deal, it will require some assistance from Lazio president Claudio Lotito, with the Nerazzurri hoping to secure discounts on this fee before signing the 34-year-old.

Acerbi has made 14 appearances for Inter in all competitions this season, having featured 173 times for Lazio since signing in 2018 as a direct replacement for De Vrij in the capital.
