Inter’s plan heading into the summer transfer window this year was to sell one of Alessandro Bastoni or Milan Skriniar, and then to sign both Nikola Milenkovic from Fiorentina and Bremer from Torino to reinforce their backline.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInter1908, who reveal that the Nerazzurri had hoped to cash in on a member of their first choice back three without losing much quality by securing the right replacements.

Inter had reportedly been willing to listen to offers for Bastoni early in the summer window before the 23-year-old made it clear that he had no intention of leaving.

Meanwhile, Skriniar was the subject of a lengthy transfer saga involving Paris Saint-Germain before he ultimately stayed at the club.\

However, as Tuttosport reveal, Inter had seen both of the defenders as sellable, as they believed that they could reinvest part of the fee for either in both Milenkovic and Bremer and not lose much in the way of quality.
