Inter’s pursuit of Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram is under threat from Premier League outfit Newcastle United, as they prepare a January move.

According to British outlet The Sun, Thuram has drawn interest from the Magpies as they seek to maintain their push for Champions League qualification this season and are ready to challenge Inter for his signature.

The Nerazzurri have long been admirers of France international Thuram and came close to signing him in 2021, only for an injury to put paid to any deal.

With his Gladbach contract set to expire next summer, Inter had considered signing him as a free agent in June but may expedite this and pay a fee to bring him to Serie A in January instead.

In addition to Newcastle, Inter may also have to hold off interest from Bayern Munich to sign Thuram, with the former Guingamp player unwilling to extend his contract with Gladbach.
