Inter are weighing up whether to offer a contract extension to defender Danilo D’Ambrosio, as he approaches the final months of his existing deal.

As reported in yesterday’s newspaper edition of Il Giorno, the former Italy international will see his contract expire at the end of the season and as yet, negotiations have not begun over a new deal.

However, D’Ambrosio’s leadership within the dressing room has been recognised by the club, with the 34-year-old a veteran in the team having represented Inter since January 2014.

Meanwhile, his versatility across the defence is also considered useful to coach Simone Inzaghi, with the former Juve Stabia man able to cover at right wing-back and as a centre-back.

It is reported that D’Ambrosio could indeed sign on with Inter for another season, and his future will be decided towards the end of the current campaign.

D’Ambrosio joined Inter from Torino in 2014 and has made 267 appearances, scoring 21 goals.
