Inter could move for Racing Club midfielder Carlos Alcaraz as early as the January transfer window in the event that Roberto Gagliardini departs from the club.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri’s strategy to sign the 19-year-old could be to grab him in January rather than waiting in the summer.

As Tuttosport, Inter have already made a significant signing from Racing Club in the recent past in the form of Lautaro Martinez who arrived in the summer of 2018.

That deal was done in the summer transfer window, but in the case of Alcaraz, the Nerazzurri’s approach may be different and they may not wait until then.

Gagliardini’s future at Inter is up in the air, and if the 28-year-old leaves then Alcaraz could arrive as the direct replacement in midfield.

Alcaraz has a release club of €25 million, whilst the feeling is that Racing Club’s asking price would actually be around €15 million, and Nerazzurri-owned striker Facundo Colidio could well be offered as part of a deal for the midfielder.
