Inter Vice-President Javier Zanetti feels that striker Lautaro Martinez has grown into a top player, but also that he still has further to go.

Speaking to Argentine news outlet La Nacion, via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri Vice-President expressed the view that Martinez is already playing like a veteran at the age of 25, for both his club and the Argentine national team.

Martinez has grown in importance for the Nerazzurri season on season, becoming a reference point in the final third.

Moreover, since joining Inter in 2018, the Argentine has also become a key player for his national team.

Now, the Inter striker will be at his first ever World Cup with the Albiceleste, and he is expected to play a key role in the final third.

The 25-year-old will be hoping that he can make the kind of impact for Argentina that he does for Inter, and Zanetti believes that he has the capability.

“I hope he scores a lot of goals,” the Inter Vice-President said.

“He’s shown remarkable growth at Inter,” Zanetti continued, “he’s added new aspects to his game.”

“Now he’s become a reference point for both his club and international teams.”

“He has a great future,” Zanetti said of Martinez, “he hasn’t yet reached his best.”

“It will be his first World Cup and I told him to enjoy it.”

“He has a great work ethic and that’s what allows him to make the difference on the pitch,” Zanetti continued.

“The way he plays and trains, he looks like a veteran.”
