Inter Vice-President Javier Zanetti is disappointed with the shock loss of the Argentine national team at the hands of Saudi Arabia at the World Cup but believes that they can get back up.

Speaking to the press after the match, as reported by FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri Vice-President gave his reaction to his country’s group stage opener at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Argentina will have believed that they could take three points from their opener against Saudi Arabia, given the clear superiority over their opposition on paper.

This belief will have only increased after the Albiceleste went ahead early on through a Lionel Messi.

However, the script was ripped up in the second half as a spirited Saudi Arabia comeback left the Argentines, including Inter striker Lautaro Martinez, with everything to do in their remaining group stage matches if they want to reach the knockout rounds.

Zanetti said after the match, “Now it’s time to get back up quickly and beat Mexico.”

“I’m sad about the result, the truth is that everything seemed to be going on track after the opening goals from Leo, but Saudi Arabia believed they could equalize, got back in it, and also managed to find the winner, which they defended until the end.”
