Young Inter wingback Franco Carboni is set to stay on loan at Cagliari over the rest of the current season.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInter1908, who report that the 19-year-old will not cut his loan spell short during the January transfer window.

Carboni joined Cagliari on loan during the summer transfer window, with the Sardinian team determined to be the right environment in which the Argentine could impress and grow within the senior game after a standout season with Inter’s Primavera team.

Carboni did not always play regularly during the first part of the campaign, although he has been afforded some opportunities in the starting eleven.

According to the Gazzetta, plans for the rest of the season have not changed, and Carboni’s loan with the Rossoblu will continue as planned.

Cagliari have a purchase option on Carboni at the end of the campaign, whilst the Nerazzurri have a buyback option should the Sardinians exercise it.
