Former Napoli goalkeeper Gennaro Iezzo believes that Inter are the team best-placed to rival Napoli in the Serie A title race over the rest of the season.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Ottochannel, via FCInter1908, Iezzo gave the view that the Nerazzurri are likelier to cause trouble for the current league leaders than their city rivals AC Milan.

Inter are eleven points back from Napoli, whilst Juventus are ten behind and Milan eight.

The Partenopei have certainly build up a formidable advantage for themselves to defend over the remainder of the season.

However, there is still well over half of the season to go, while the Nerazzurri will also face Napoli head-to-head on two occasions.

Accordingly, Inter could feel that despite the size of the gap at the moment, they will have the opportunity to rein in the current league leaders over the rest of the campaign.

Asked who he thinks that Napoli’s main rivals are, Iezzo replied “I think Inter, because they’re the team with the structure and potential to do it.”

“I don’t see Milan being as hungry as last season,” he added, “they’re less balanced than Napoli.”
