Manchester City are likelier than Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur to sign Alessandro Bastoni from Inter, but he wants to stay at Inter.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the 23-year-old is one of City’s 5-6 main targets in defense, but that he would rather extend his Nerazzurri contract.

Bastoni has been a target for Tottenham coach Antonio Conte, with the London-based club having tried to sign him in the summer and still targeting him.

However, a move to Spurs is unlikely, whereas City have overtaken them as the main candidate to bring the Inter defender to the Premier League.

For the player’s part, however, his priority remains to stay at Inter, as it had been during the summer when Spurs were initially interested.

According to FCInterNews, Bastoni could be offered a contract extension from the end of June 2024 to 2026 or 2027, at wages of around €4 million net per season.
