Inter are contemplating recalling striker Sebastiano Esposito from his loan at Anderlecht and sending him back out to a Serie A club in the January transfer window.
As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the 20-year-old could see his season in Belgium cut short after struggling to make an impact, with just a single goal in 14 games in the Belgian First Division.
It is suggested that Inter are frustrated with the way Esposito has been utilised by Anderlecht and are looking for a project which would allow him to be a key figure, supporting his development in order to make a push for the first team with the Nerazzurri in the future.
Working with his representatives, Inter are sounding out alternative destinations for the second half of the season but will only consider Italian teams.
This has led to interest from Empoli and Salernitana, with the two Serie A clubs looking to land the ex-Basel loanee this winter.
