Inter striker Romelu Lukaku made his comeback from injury when he appeared off the bench during Belgium’s 2-0 defeat to Morocco in the World Cup today.

As reported by FCInter1908.it, the former Manchester United striker was brought on by coach Roberto Martinez as Belgium sought an equaliser at 1-0 down in the second half, but could not help the Red Devils draw level, before they ultimately conceded again in stoppage time.

Lukaku has endured an injury-hit campaign since returning to Inter on loan from Chelsea in the summer, with a muscular strain sustained in August ruling him out until late October, before a follow-up injury putting his World Cup place in doubt.

Whilst the 29-year-old was not expected to be fit until Belgium’s final group match against Croatia on Thursday, he has recovered ahead of schedule and his cameo from the bench will be seen as a boost for Inter.

Lukaku has only played five times for the Nerazzurri this season, scoring two goals.
