Football agent Oscar Damiani insists that Inter and AC Milan will not see an impact on their Serie A campaigns when they face off in the Supercoppa Italiana.

The two Milanese rivals square off in Saudi Arabia on 18 January 2023 to contest the Italian Super Cup, with Inter’s Coppa Italia triumph last season given them the opportunity to challenge Scudetto winners Milan.

In an interview with MilanNews.it, Damiani, who represented the Rossoneri as a winger from 1982 until 1984, offered his thoughts on the clash, and claimed that it would have no bearing on either side’s domestic form.

“I don’t think that any victory or defeat in the Italian Super Cup can affect the performance in the league,” the former Juventus player claimed.

“Winning a trophy is always an important thing and Milan are particularly keen on it. It will be a balanced match, but Milan have all it takes to do well and win.”

Inter are currently three points behind Milan in the Serie A table at the World Cup break, but find themselves a further eight points behind league leaders Napoli.

The Nerazzurri are the current holders of the Supercoppa Italiana, having defeated Juventus 2-1 after extra time in January 2022.
