Inter are likely to offer a contract extension to backup goalkeeper Alex Cordaz past the end of the current season.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the Nerazzurri are inclined to extend the 40-year-old’s deal for at least one more season.

Cordaz arrived at Inter during the summer 2021 where he was signed as a third-choice keeper, then behind captain Samir Handanovic and backup Andrei Radu.

This season, the former Crotone captain has continued to be the third-choice keeper, now behind summer arrival from Ajax Andre Onana and Handanovic.

With Handanovic, whose current contract runs out at the end of June 2023 as Cordaz’s does, the club are likely to offer the Slovenian a new deal, buy only if he accepts continuing to be the backup to Onana.

As far as Cordaz’s situation, it is thought that the Nerazzurri are happy with the 40-year-old in the third-choice role, and likely to extend his deal.
