Inter striker Romelu Lukaku looked nowhere near his best in his cameo appearance for Belgium in their World Cup group stage loss to Morocco yesterday.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who argue that the 29-year-old looked like a shadow of the player he is capable of being.

When Lukaku came on for Belgium, the Red Devils were 1-0 down and desperately chasing a goal.

The hope was that the Inter striker could be the man to give Belgium the extra quality in attack to unlock the match.

However, Lukaku did not look fully fit and appeared to be out of his rhythm technically.

Morocco defenders Roman Saiss and Nayef Aguerd hardly allowed the Nerazzurri striker to see the ball, and Belgium’s attack hardly looked more threatening than it had without him.

Lukaku was little more than a spectator as Morocco wrapped up the victory with a second goal on the counterattack late on.
