Inter are likely to offer a new contract to defender Danilo D’Ambrosio to keep him at the club past the end of the current season.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the 34-year-old’s status as a locker room leader means that the Nerazzurri are keen to extend his time at the club past the summer when his current deal is set to run out.

D’Ambrosio’s contract with the Nerazzurri is set to run out at the end of June 2023.

Given the former Torino defender’s age and the fact that he no longer features regularly in the starting eleven, there have been some questions regarding whether or not Inter will offer him a new contract.

However, D’Ambrosio is still considered to be an important player within the dressing room.

Moreover, the 34-year-old has still proven a fairly reliable option when called upon despite not starting regularly.

Accordingly, Inter’s plan is to offer the defender a new contract.
