Former AC Milan midfielder Ambrosini feels that Napoli’s matches against Inter and Napoli in January will be decisive indicators for the strength of their title charge.

Speaking to Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport in an interview published in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, the former Rossoneri midfielder stressed the significance of the two head-to-head clashes with direct rivals for the Partenopei.

At the moment, Napoli have looked borderline unstoppable in the Italian top flight.

Just four points dropped across their fifteen opening league matches have meant that Luciano Spalletti’s team have been clearly the outstanding team, and have given them a significant buffer at the top of the table.

Getting results against the Nerazzurri and the Bianconeri would only confirm this impression and could make Napoli’s lead look unassailable, although failing to do so would dramatically alter the picture at the top of the Serie A table.

Ambrosini said of the matches that “They’ll tell us a lot, and above all they’ll indicate whether the chasing pack in Serie A can start to close the gap on the leaders.”

“They’re two head-to-head matches that on the one hand could change the direction of the second part of the season, but on the other could see Napoli start to look impossible to catch,” he added.
