Inter want to pay Chelsea a lower loan fee for Romelu Lukaku next summer than they did this summer.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, who reported this afternoon via FCInterNews that the Nerrazzurri feel that the Belgian’s struggles for form and fitness should be reflected in a loan fee for him if they extend his loan in the next summer transfer window.

Inter paid Chelsea a fee of around €8 million to bring Lukaku back on loan this summer, one season after he had made the blockbuster move back to the Premier League from the Nerazzurri.

So far this season, the 29-year-old’s return has not gone according to plan, with injuries restricting him to just a few appearances for the Nerazzurri.

Inter’s view is that given that there are now big question marks around Lukaku’s reliability and fitness levels, his value will have lowered.

Accordingly, the Nerazzurri will ask Chelsea to lower the fee on another loan for the striker next summer.
