Inter have begun making contingency plans to replace goalkeeper Andre Onana, should they receive a tempting offer for him, including Borussia Monchengladbach’s Yann Sommer.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Tuttosport, the Nerazzurri have expressed an interest in Switzerland international Sommer, as well as Fenerbahce’s Altay Bayindir, and it is argued that neither would be content to serve as a back-up choice.

Indeed, it is reported that Inter are monitoring high-profile goalkeepers with a view to being able to quickly secure a replacement for Onana, amidst expectations that the Cameroon international will draw interest in his services.

Onana only arrived from Ajax in the summer, but having signed on a free transfer following the expiry of his contract in Amsterdam, a sale would allow Inter to record significant capital profit.

Sommer, who has been a mainstay in the Swiss national team and at Gladbach, is approaching his 34th birthday and is seeking one final major contract, as well as regular football ahead of Euro 2024.

Similarly, Bayindir has established himself as first choice for Fenerbahce and is seen as the future of Turkey’s national team, and so it is deemed unlikely that either goalkeeper is being considered as a reserve at Inter.
