Inter captain Samir Handanovic feels that right now, the Nerazzurri’s players are in better condition that they were when the team dispersed for the World Cup break.
Speaking to InterTV after the team’s 4-0 victory over Red Bull Salzburg in a friendly match, via FCInterNews, the Inter captain noted that from his perspective, the team look to be in very good form.
Inter have managed 6-1 and 4-0 victories respectively in their two friendly matches in Malta, against Gzira United and Red Bull Salzburg.
These results, even coming against relatively lower-quality opposition, would seem to be a testament to a team who are hardly struggling to find form.
The Nerazzurri’s physical freshness as well as tactical and technical chemistry has been evident at times throughout the two friendly wins.
From the perspective of captain Handanovic playing in the matches as well as seeing his teammates in training, Inter are doing better than they had been a few weeks ago.
“They’ve looked better to me than they had when we left for the break,” the captain said.
“On a physical level we’re getting ourselves ready, Malta was a good choice, we’ve had two friendly matches to get back in gear,” he continued.
Asked if the team already have their minds on the return to Serie A on January 4, Handanovic responded that “Yes, the thought of January 4 is always there in the back of our minds, but we also have a month left and not everyone is back yet.”
“We’ll think about it later,” he added.
Asked what the team need to work on most, the Slovenian replied “A bit on everything.”
“It’s an unusual season for everyone,” he said referring to the lengthy midseason break for the World Cup, “we’ve never found ourselves in this situation, it’s like starting a new season.”
