Inter and Matteo Darmian are very close to agreeing terms on a contract extension.
This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that there is little separating the Nerazzurri and the Darmian in negotiations, and that once the talks seriously pick up it should not be long before the 33-year-old is handed a new deal.
Inter have yet to seriously sit down for contract talks with Darmian and his representatives.
However, the club’s will is to extend the former Manchester United, Parma, and Torino wingback’s deal past the end of June 2023 when it currently expires.
Moreover, the player wants to stay for at least one more season.
Currently, the club are ready to offer Darmian a one-year extension with the option of another season, whilst the player is aiming for a guaranteed two-year contract.
The Nerazzurri do not want the wages on the deal to go beyond €1.5-2 million net per season, as they want to reduce costs.
In terms of wages, there is little separating the parties, and it is expected that the mutual desire to continue on together should mean that the negotiations will not take long.
