Inter are still optimistic that they can sign midfielder Yunus Musah from Valencia, but he would only arrive in January in the event that Roberto Gagliardini is to be sold.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri still have the 20-year-old very much on their radar, though probably not for the January transfer window unless a sale takes place.

Inter have marked Musah out as a major target to reinforce their midfield in the long term.

Given that the US international would be a signing not just for the present but also for the future, the club would be willing to make a significant investment to sign him, similar to their pursuit of Kristjan Asllani from Empoli in the summer.

Inter are still optimistic that a deal can be done to sign Musah.

However, as far as a move during the January window, this would only take place if room is made in the squad and a transfer fee is brought in from a sale.

For this, Gagliardini would be the main candidate, with Monza still keen on the 28-year-old’s signature.
