Inter wingback Federico Dimarco feels that the team have benefited a lot from their two friendly matches against Gzira United and Red Bull Salzburg.

Speaking to InterTV, via FCInterNews, the 25-year-old praised his team’s performances in the two matches even despite the quality of the opposition, and noted the importance of getting time on the pitch to find form and match-fitness.

Inter have now played both of their friendlies scheduled for their training retreat in Malta.

The first came against Maltese side Gzira United, which the Nerazzurri won 6-1, and then this evening they beat Salzburg by a scoreline of 4-0.

These will be far from the most challenging matches that Inter face this season.

However, both were effective opportunities for the team to get out on the pitch together.

Inter showed that they are starting to click and get back into their rhythm as a unit, whilst plenty of players have shown good individual form.

“I think we’ve played two excellent matches,” Dimarco said after today’s win over Salzburg.

“We do have to take into account the level of the teams we’ve faced, but they were both good friendlies to have played in view of our return to playing in the league.”

Asked how he’s feeling about the return of Serie A, Dimarco replied that “We’ve just started.”

“Unlike in the summer, we were only away for ten days, so I don’t think we’ve lost as much condition as we tend to during the summer break,” the wingback noted.

“We’re trying to work hard so that when January 4 arrives we are in the best shape possible.”

Asked what the Nerazzurri plan to focus on most during the rest of their World Cup break, Dimarco replied that “We haven’t talked about it yet because there’s still time left, we’ll talk about it with the coach and each other”.
