Inter attacking midfielder Valentin Carboni came off the bench for the Nerazzurri in the team’s 4-0 friendly win over Red Bull Salzburg this evening, scoring his first ever goal for the senior team in the process.
Speaking to InterTV after the match, via FCInterNews, the 17-year-old reacted to the win and the excitement of getting on the scoresheet, emphasizing that he wants to make the most of every opportunity he is given within the team.
Carboni has been gradually introduced into Inter’s senior team this season.
The Argentine is only 17 years old, but shone with the Primavera team last season, and this has been enough to convince many within the club that he is a major talent and is ready to start proving himself within the senior professional game.
Carboni has made a number of appearances for Inter in both Serie A and in the Champions League so far this season, although all of them have been as substitutes.
The Argentine started for Inter in their first friendly match of their training retreat in Malta, a 6-1 win over Gzira United, and he once again came off the bench in this evening’s win over Salzburg, scoring his first ever goal for the senior team in the process.
“I’m very happy to have scored my first goal, and that the team won,” Carboni said.
“I thank the coach and the staff for every opportunity that they give me.”
The attacking midfielder continued that “I always try to learn and improve myself every day, and when the coach gives me an opportunity, to make the most of it.”
Of the friendlies during the World Cup break, Carboni said that “We’re training hard for these matches and we want to keep winning and giving our all in every game.”
And of the possibility of being ready to be called upon when the Nerazzurri return to Serie A action in January, Carboni said “I don’t know, I always try to be ready and give my all on the pitch and take advantage of all possibilities I’m given, as I said before.”
