Midfielders Nicolo Barella and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are set to start for the Nerazzurri in this evening’s friendly match against Red Bull Sazlburg.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the pair will replace Hakan Calhanoglu and Roberto Gagliardini in the lineup from the friendly on Monday against Gzira United.

In Inter’s first friendly of their training retreat in Malta against Maltese side Gzira United, Calhanoglu and Gagliardini started on either side of Kristjan Asllani in the Nerazzurri’s midfield trio.

Asllani is set to keep his place as the regista at the base of the midfield trio for today’s friendly against Salzburg.

However, coach Simone Inzaghi is set to start both Barella and Mkhitaryan on either side of the Albanian.

The coach looks to be preparing for the reintroduction of Marcelo Brozovic as the first-choice starter at the base of midfield, with Asllani his backup and the other midfielders used as box-to-box midfielders.
