Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella has received significant praise in Italian media for his box-to-box style of play.

The 25-year-old was described as being a “prototype of dynamism” in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, highlighting how he has grown into the season.

Barella had not quite looked at his best in Inter’s first few matches of the campaign, but as the team found its feat, the former Cagliari midfielder clearly established himself as a key player at the heart of midfield.

The 25-year-old’s energy has been crucial to setting the tempo in midfield, as he has recovered the ball and stifled opposition possession moves defensively, and constantly offered himself as an option in possession.

As Barella’s fitness and confidence have grown, Inter have been able to put their imprint in the midfield battle against virtually any opponent.

The 25-year-old’s goals and assists have grown into a more consistent feature of his game, and have been perhaps the most eye-catching aspect of his performances this season.

However, as the Gazzetta is keen to stress, they are far from the only thing that Barella has been doing well.
