Manchester United are targeting Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeeper Yann Sommer, who is also on Inter’s radar to replace captain Samir Handanovic.

This according to US broadcaster ESPN, via FCInterNews, who report that the Red Devils are keen to sign the 33-year-old Swiss international, either on a free transfer next summer or during the January transfer window.

Sommer’s current contract with Gladbach is set to run out at the end of the current season.

The 33-year-old has given no indications that he plans to extend his deal with the Bundesliga team.

Inter have identified Sommer as a possible candidate to replace captain Handanovic should he depart at the end of his current contract, which expires at the end of June 2023.

However, the Nerazzurri could face serious competition for the Swiss international’s signature.

According to ESPN, Man United have also taken a strong interest in signing Sommer in one of the upcoming transfer windows.
