Inter defender Milan Skriniar will be a target for Spanish club Barcelona on a free transfer next summer if he does not extend his contract with the Nerazzurri.

This according to Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo, via L’Interista, who report that the Slovakian is on the Blaugranas’ list of possible targets to reinforce their squad, but only if he can be signed without a transfer fee.

The financial problems at Barcelona have meant that the Catalan giants are looking for ways to strengthen their squad without significant spending.

Looking for free transfer opportunities is one such avenue that the Blaugranas are ready to pursue.

Currently, defender Skriniar’s contract with Inter is set to run out at the end of June 2023.

The Nerazzurri are pushing to extend the 27-year-old’s deal, having set Christmas as a deadline to have an agreement wrapped up.

However, if Inter fail to agree a new deal with Skriniar, Barcelona would be ready to move for him in June according to Mundo Deportivo.
