Friendly matches against the likes of Real Betis, Reggina, and Sassuolo will be fundamental for Inter striker Romelu Lukaku to regain his match fitness ahead of the return of Serie A next month.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who note that the 29-year-old will be using the matches as an opportunity to grow into his best form with the Nerazzurri set to return to action in January.

Lukaku is back in Inter training today.

The Belgian’s task is clear, as he is still trying to get back to full fitness and form for the return of the Serie A season.

Lukaku was only fit enough to make two substitute appearances for Belgium as the Red Devils crashed out of the group stage of the World Cup in Qatar.

Moreover, the 29-year-old did not look to be at his best when he was able to play, even if he had recovered from his thigh injury.

Accordingly, now that Lukaku is fully fit, he will be aiming to build math fitness and get into his rhythm over the next few weeks.

Aside from using the training sessions during the period, the Belgian will also have the chance to play in three friendly matches, against Real Betis, Reggina, and Sassuolo to build up his match fitness.
