Inter midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan feels that the team are using the World Cup break well to prepare for the return of the Serie A season next month.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews, the 33-year-old emphasized the importance of finding fitness and match rhythm in the training sessions and friendly matches during the break.
So far, Inter have played two friendly matches during the break, facing off against Gzira United and Red Bull Salzburg during their training retreat in Malta.
The signs have been encouraging, with emphatic wins in both of those matches as the team look to already be clicking in terms of both their physical fitness as well as technical and tactical chemistry on the pitch.
Over the next few weeks, Inter will play three more friendly matches, against the likes of Real Betis, Reggina, and Sassuolo, which will be further opportunities to improve their fitness.
“We’ve started our preparations very well,” Mkhitaryan said.
“We’ve already played two matches and gotten playing time in our legs.”
“We keep moving forward, hoping to keep going in this direction so that we can be as prepared as possible for the rest of the season,” the Armenian added.
