Inter wingback Denzel Dumfries has revealed that he felt a slight muscular knock during the Netherlands’ quarterfinal clash with Argentina at the World Cup, but that he should be fit to return to training.
Speaking to the press after the penalty shootout loss to Argentina, as reported by FCInterNews, the Dutchman updated on his physical condition in the match, reassuring that he will be able to make his return to Nerazzurri training in ten days.
Dumfries’s World Cup is over after the Netherlands crashed out of Qatar on penalties to Argentina.
Now, the 26-year-old will be granted a vacation of ten days to rest and recover his strength, as all Inter players who have been in action at the tournament have been.
The former PSV wingback started all of the Oranje’s matches in Qatar, including yesterday’s gruelling two-hour contest.
Dumfries has explained that he felt a slight knock, but that it should not be anything he cannot recover from over the next ten days.
“I felt a bit of a knock in my calf, but it’s nothing serious,” he explained.
“In ten days I’ll be ready to go back to Inter.”
