Inter are facing competition from bitter rivals Juventus in two of their transfer pursuits next summer, as they seek to sign Chris Smalling and Marcus Thuram.

According to L’Interista.it, the Nerazzurri’s hopes of landing Roma centre-back Smalling could be dealt a blow by the interest from Juventus, with the two clubs set to vie to convince the Englishman to reject a contract extension at the Stadio Olimpico at the end of the season.

Smalling’s current deal runs out in June and he has the option to extend for a further year, with Roma keen to retain him, but Inter have been joined in the race by the Bianconeri.

Meanwhile, a lengthy pursuit of Borussia Monchengladbach forward Thuram is also under threat from Turin, although it is reported that the most significant risk of missing out on the France international comes from Bayern Munich.

Like Smalling, Thuram is approaching the end of his contract but has no intention of remaining at Gladbach.
