Inter wingback Denzel Dumfries is not expected to be out for any length of time after appearing to pick up a knock in the Netherlands World Cup defeat to Argentina on Friday.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Tuttosport, the defender took a heavy challenge during the fiery encounter at the Lusail Stadium in Doha, as the Netherlands were eliminated at the quarter-final stage after a 4-3 penalty shootout defeat following a dramatic 2-2 draw.

Dumfries is set to take a short break following his World Cup efforts, but Inter have no concerns over his fitness and are due to welcome him back to training at the club’s Appiano Gentile centre in 10 days.

Meanwhile, the former PSV Eindhoven player himself confirmed that he was fine, by declaring in the press mixed zone after the game that he was ready to return to Inter, as reported by L’Interista.it.

Dumfries has made 20 appearances for Inter in all competitions this season, scoring twice.
