Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic is set to reclaim his deep-lying role for the Nerazzurri after sparkling at the World Cup with Croatia.

According to FCInterNews.it, the former Dinamo Zagreb player has shown Inter what they were missing when he was sidelined with an injury suffered in September, ruling him out until early November.

Brozovic’s absence was covered by Hakan Calhanoglu dropping into a deeper position to great effect, but the Croatia star’s excellent World Cup campaign in Qatar means there is no doubt that he will take his spot back in the Inter team.

Croatia have reached the semi-finals of the competition after defeating favourites Brazil, and it is in no small part thanks to the form of Brozovic.

Despite Calhanoglu impressing in the role, so much so that upon Brozovic’s return to fitness he remained on the bench so that the Turkey international could continue there, he will now move back into a more advanced position.

Brozovic will be joined by Nicolo Barella in the middle, with Calhanoglu set to return to his attacking midfield role in place of Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
