Red Bull Salzburg head coach Matthias Jaissle feels that the gap in quality as well as energy and preparation was evident in his team’s friendly loss to Inter earlier this week.
Speaking in a press conference, as reported by FCInterNews, the Salzburg coach gave the view that the 4-0 win by the Nerazzurri was a fair result, and reflective of the levels of the two teams during the match.
Inter played their second friendly match of the World Cup break against Salzburg on Wednesday.
The match saw the Nerazzurri looking to already be clicking into gear technically and tactically, putting in an assured display to grab an emphatic victory.
The friendly was important for Inter to start growing into match fitness and form, but also for Salzburg.
The Austrian champions were able to start building up their own physical fitness and match rhythm, and they did so against a team who their coach considers to be top-quality opposition.
“The guys gave everything for their last match of the year,” Jaissle said, “but it was evident that we were running on empty after such an intense season up to this point.”
“Facing us were a real top-class team in Inter, who are in the midst of their preparations,” he continued, “we felt the difference right from the start.”
